Sometimes life can be very busy until time to sort out your utility bills becomes rare. Thankfully, Safaricom through their service MPESA, together with Nairobi Water Company have made it easier to pay your bills conveniently and without much fuss.
To begin with, query your account balance by sending an SMS with your water meter account number to 5571. You will receive an SMS response with your current outstanding bill. Please note that this is a premium service and costs are 10 shillings above normal rates.
Once you know your water bill, you then make your payment using MPESA.
- Select ‘Pay Bill’ from your M-PESA menu
- Enter the Nairobi Water Business Number 444400
- Enter your full water bill ‘account number’
- Follow the instructions as guided by the menu to complete your transaction.
Transaction fee Applicable.
You will then receive a confirmation SMS from MPESA and another from Nairobi Water Company. Hold on to these incase proof of payment is required by the representatives of this company when they are doing their rounds in your neighbourhood.
